Snowflake
fret markers set this 'better' guitar series apart from its catalog
partners, and they were the only
Silvertones ever to receive such a decoration. Offered in
sunburst and blonde, but the blonde 634 sold far fewer.

The 614 / 632 series was built by Harmony, and introduced in
late 1953 (its much rarer blonde sibling, the 634 came along at the model number
change in mid-'58). It remained the mid-range
guitar throughout its seven-year lifespan; its distinction in the
Silvertone line was the 'snowflake' stenciled fret markers. It shared the
'peaked' shape (if not the color) pickguard of the popular
600 series, the 'best' flattop in the
Sears lineup at the time. Top edge binding, a brass-inlaid wood bridge, and
decorative tailpiece rounded out this solid middle-of-the-road package.
