A short-lived but well-loved axe from Kay, the
1413 (and it's less-widely available sister the 1417) took the surf thang and
swam with it, even to the sea-foam green of its finish. The 1413s most famous
role was probably onscreen with Cap'n Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters in the
Tom Hanks film ' That Thing You Do.'

The 1413 and 1417
are funky surf twangers from our friends at Kay. The predecessor to these
guitars was the slab- bodied 1410. A contoured, beveled body and a big silvery pickup made this guitar a hot item for
the couple of years it was offered.
Also offered, and much rarer, is the 1417, which added an interesting 'true
vibrato' mechanism.
