The 1456 holds
an interesting place in Silvertone brand name history, and it became my 'line in
the sand' as far as a date to set as to when the Silvertone line truly ended. The 1456 is the
last electric guitar in the Sears catalog to 'hold over' from the days when
Silvertones ruled.

The 1456 was the immediate successor to the large
script logo'd 1455, and actually lasted longer in the catalogs than its predecessor.
Specs were nearly identical (see pics for slight variations), and only a brief
and non-listed flirtation with a Silvertone block logo (and a very few
cursive, like the 1455) kept this from being a
purely 'Space Dot' logo'd guitar. As such, the 1456 stands as my definitive end
of the Silvertone line.
