The 1410 preceded the 'turquoise'
1413/17 and shared a similar body shape, but the 1410 was rawer, less refined.
The wood grain shows nicely through the  finish, and for $40, it wasn't
a bad deal, really. Plus, no other Silvertone has a 'cheese grater' pickup, so it has that going for it.

The 1410 Kay-built guitar was proclaimed a 'thrift model'
in one of its catalog listings, and that's pretty much the bulk of the story.
Our friends at Kay provided us with a mutated-Strat shape, no contouring, no tremolo, just a super-basic
'rich cherry-red' one-pickup
guitar. For the time it was available, it was the lowest priced electric guitar
Sears offered, so the 'thrift' moniker was a selling point, not a detractor.
It only lasted for one catalog cycle, but as you'll see in the gallery, there
was still time for a couple of non-catalog variations along the way.
